She writes for The Lancet medical journals, and is the author of several books, including The Naked Muse, Ophelia Swam, Double the Stars, Opera di Cera, Darwin’s Microscope, and Atlantic. Swain was born in Rhode Island, and spent 14 years living in the UK before moving with her husband to Tasmania. She currently works at UTAS.
