A force to be reckoned with, Tasmania’s Mature Artists Dance Experience (MADE) bring a double bill encore performance to Hobart and Burnie in September 2023.
HandMADE and MADE TO LAST are two extraordinary dance works that revel in the capacity and endurance of mature women, and encapsulate the wildly different sides to ageing.
HandMADE is a beautiful and lyrical work by Tasmanian producer and dance maker Emma Porteus. Emma’s work embraces the globe from Tasmania to Finland. In HandMADE Emma draws on that global perspective, with a work that focuses on the way we experience the world through the bodies we inhabit.
Liz Aggiss is one of the world’s foremost mature dance artists. Her MADE TO LAST is defiant, funny, and loud! It’s a work created by an artist at the height of her powers and made with some of the most experienced members of the MADE Ensemble. It’s witty, irreverent, fast-paced, and decidedly unapologetic.
Expect an equally meaningful, relatable and fiery evening of dance by this dynamic and inspiring ensemble! MADE is a revolutionary arts organisation, a pioneer, an Australian leader creating spectacular work for audiences by building pathways between the mature non-professional dancer and the professional artist to create engaging, quality dance productions for global audiences.
Founded in 2005, each year MADE commissions, develops and presents at least one new original performance work for community participants aged 50 or over – work that is ‘distinctly MADE’.
MADE is a celebration of movement, artform and wisdom.
